More Free Games Like This; Astro’s Playroom

So there’s a new game out called Astro Bot. I will not lie, I am intrigued, so you know I had to play its predecessor beforehand, Astro’s Playroom. For those who don’t know, this is a free game that came with the PS5. Spoilers ahead, but there’s not much to spoil except for the history of PlayStation itself. Initially, I wasn’t going to play this game until the game I actually wanted to play was busy with a download and I was sitting on my couch not sleepy. I figured this game would be short since it was free, and I was right. What I didn’t expect, was how much fun I would have while playing. I used to be a bigger Sony-pony-fan-boy, those who keep up with my blog know that I ended my online membership/subscription with them, so my fan status has dwindled. If I played this when I first got my PS5, I probably would have enjoyed it more, but even now it was still a welcoming blast from the past. The point of the game is to show appreciation for what came before it. You see other bots look...

Spooky Season; Whatever Words #5

Tis the season for something spooky!  Or at least that's how I'm feeling at the moment. Also watched that State of Play from PlayStation and Ghost of Yotei piqued my interest. Enough so that I'm itching to replay the first game. Totally not a spooky game, but a compelling one. Currently playing Emio on the Switch—quick aside, on my blog page I added some descriptors on the side bar. A current reading list, yes three books being read at the same time, I have my reasons. The first book I want to take my time with, it's already in my feels and I want this story to grow with me. Like these characters are growing alongside with me... deep I know.   Second  book is the one I'm focused on, soon to be finished. The first book is owned by my partner, yet the other two are on loaned time. Priorities. The third  book is when I want that quick story to pass the time. Plus it has visuals and I'm a sucker for pictures in my books. Back to Emio —and I do quite mean so this t...

Could I be Joy Boy?

What's a pirates favorite letter? Tis the C! My favorite pirate joke. Initially people go "Arrrr" which could be a correct answer, but it's always fun to switch it on them. So really, if you're just asking one person, you can always tell them the other letter for the joke to still work. International Talk Like A Pirate Day. I never call it my birthday anymore, I see no fun in that. To me, I understand why people would want to celebrate other people's birthdays because they're happy that they were born and want to celebrate with them. When it's my own birthday, well to me it's just any other day. It feels more like a marker, every year I get closer and closer... to Davy Jones locker, for the sea is where I belong! Argh! Pirate stuff has always been a part of my life growing up. References in SpongeBob, like with the Flying Dutchman, Pirates of the Caribbean movies, literally about pirates, and the biggest one right now, One Piece. Even with sports, ...

Quick side note; Whatever Words #4

That's right folks, I did not forget today. I did get pretty close to forgetting...but I've been busy. Long day of work yada yada boring boring, BUT what about Astro Bot, or more specifically, Astro's Playroom. Quick side note, I started this on Monday, but then got distracted and went to bed before finishing this. Literally only got one paragraph in. I was thinking for the longest time what I could talk about, but then it hit me. Astro.  The little robot who just got a new game for the PlayStation, that I have not played. But  I have played the free one that came with the PS5. Speaking of which , I never told my story here on how I got my PS5. Early on when it was hard to get one, I randomly checked the PlayStation store— while logged in, the console was sold out. Figures. The next day, I get an email from PlayStation saying I have a chance to join their special queue to buy the PS5. So I followed the instructions and got a console soon after. Sadly, ( or happily since I...

Rich Guy Problems; American Psycho

First time actually watching this. Technically, in the past I remember putting this on in the background and not even realizing it was over, if I even did finish it back then, so that time doesn’t really count. This was my first actual watch and I got to say, I get it. When I was younger, yeah this type of movie would not appeal to me. I totally understand why some people wouldn’t be into it but, I dig it. For those who don’t know what the movie is about, it’s pretty much a story about a rich incel who just wants to fit in—and kills people. Spoiler territory! My theory is that he is from a super-rich family. That’s the TLDR version, so let me explain. So the movie is from the main characters perspective, Patrick Bateman, and that already spells trouble. The whole unreliable narrative since we’re following a man who is literally going crazy. I feel like the popular theories are that everything is just made up or in his mind, especially during the massacre where he shoots at cops and the...

Backstory Writer; Whatever Words #3

Ohmygosh it has been such a long couple of weeks that I totally forgot to do my own personal segment. Couldn’t even make it to number three before forgetting to do it! So I am taking some time off work to visit Noki, my parents, and some friends. Figuring that stuff out has taken time away from me, also some stuff going on with the family so that’s been distracting. Also creating a D&D one-shot! While I’m in town I thought it would be fun to do an in-person D&D sesh. Sadly, one of my normal players lives in another state so we didn’t want to make it relevant to our actual campaign. Instead, I created a whole new scenario, world, and characters. Trust me, I enjoy doing this. I figured out that I enjoy creating backstories for characters. I am a heavy lore enjoyer. I said it, I love lore. There’s tons of people out there who skip parts of the story when “it’s not relevant to the plot” like, sometimes lore is needed to have a better understanding of the character. Maybe something ...

New Homegirl; The VVitch

Finally got the chance to watch The Witch–or how I like to spell it, The VVitch. The acting in this is phenomenal; not just Anya Taylor-Joy but the whole family. Visually, the movie is stunning and the themes within the film can still be talked about today. YET, the story for this film very one note. Spoilers If you’ve seen this movie you already know Anya Taylor-Joy was great and is still going strong, so let’s talk about some other family members. Harvey Scrimshaw, the oldest son, takes it away for me. It’s tough for a child actor to portray depth of emotion when they haven’t lived a long life, but I was amazed during his monologue right before he dies. Everything before was alright, you can tell he put his all in that one scene. Kudos to him. The father, Ralph Ineson, is amazing. For those who don’t know, he’s also a voice actor. If you played FFXVI recently, you might remember hearing him as Cid. If you’re only into movies, he was the voice of the Green Knight in, quite literally, ...

It’s Reyt Good; Thank Goodness You’re Here

We need more games like this, story driven with a unique art style. Spoiler-ish ahead, but there really isn’t much to spoil. What’s so great about this game is that there is a world inside that is alive. You’re a short guy that visits Barnsworth, a very British town, because you have a meeting with the mayor. As you wait for the meeting, you get the opportunity to explore the town. There’s characters you interact with to progress the main story, but there are also characters who are doing their own thing, progressing their own stories. If your goal is to make it to the credits, just listen to the receptionist at the beginning and there you go. If you want to experience the town to the fullest, then make sure to revisit areas when given the chance. The humor is akin to shows like Smiling Friends; a great show that should also be watched. That really is all you need to know about this game. Yeah it can be considered a short game, but it is an indie. This is one of those games where if yo...

Star Wars is Convoluted; Whatever Words #2

Yes, even though it is a holiday, Labor Day, the blog shall go on. Normally, I would do this earlier in the day, but since it’s a holiday I decided to treat myself.  We took the cats outside. Aiko enjoys it, content with the harness/vest, she is definitely an out-doors cat. Lika…not so much. I took her out on the balcony, closed the door, and she immediately wanted to go back in—just straight panic mode. Foolishly, I carried her out the front door and as fate would have it, the neighbor living right across from us came out at the same time. Lika, again, immediately starts to panic, scratching my face just a tad. Nothing serious, she was just moving around in my arms trying to get closer to the door and away from the stranger. The neighbor has done nothing wrong to Lika, she’s just afraid of anyone she has no clue about. It will be a slow process, but I do plan to get her used to the outside. I will wait till it gets cooler, so I will join her outside to get her comfortable. Funny e...
