I'm Invested; My First One Piece Tournament

For those unaware, I'm into the One Piece trading card game (OP TCG) scene. Mostly, I've just been collecting while only playing the game online. My sister told me about this official tournament held by Bandai themselves nearby, and decided it was time to try the game in person. I've done so with friends, but nothing serious with an actual prize in the line. The prize was every win out of five duels, you got a free pack of cards. This was a big step for me because I went in alone and dueled against people I have never met before. Plus this was a deck I actually tried to make good, ordering specific cards— that weren't too expensive— to make a viable deck. I lost my first round. After losing, I thought I was actually done and had decided to stay to watch other people play. I was going to use this time to watch others with experience play the game. After the first round, I learned that everyone gets to keep playing and that we were all dueling five rounds no matter what...

So I've Been Gone; Whatever Words #15

Okay so I have been gone for awhile. Less than a month, but still away for a bit. Things have just been busy this month, and I almost gave up on the blog... almost. Firstly, I have decided to not "catch up" my "Whatever Words," but instead I'll just continue on from where I left off. These are meant to be in the moment and they shall stay that way. By this I mean, I won't do #16, #17, etc right away, but continue to do so on a weekly basis. Secondly, I do have plans for other posts, don't you worry. I went to an actual One Piece  trading card game tournament, so I'll talk about that. Plus another post about what I had to deal with at work. I try to leave work out of my blog, but an annoying thing happened and this is the place to shrug it off. Thirdly, I really did miss writing. I've been filling up the time with reading books, playing video games, and watching shows with my partner. I got so enthralled with Metaphor , whenever I had free time, I...

Subtle, yet Bold; The Godfather DVD Menu

Okay, finally watched The Godfather . It’s a classic, it’s good, yeah this is information we all know. What I really want to talk about…is the DVD menu. Spoilers My partner and I did not notice that the menu screen is literally the scene where the Don dies. We did not notice that he was lying there in the field. The shot is so good with the shadows, he blends in so well. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you will miss it, which was true for us. The Setup menu is literally a screenshot of the whole setup of the movie. It’s the Don on the ground in front of his car after being shot. Having this be the background image is such a smart idea. You can barely see his face, so you don’t know who exactly it is if you haven’t seen the movie. This is why physical media should still exist.
