Cheering; Positive Comments/Replies
Recently, I was listening to Gregway, a Kinda Funny podcast, and Greg was talking about negative comments. While listening, I started thinking about all the hate I’ve also seen not just in the video game community, but on Twitter (X) as well. I then came up with the idea of posting positive comments.
Not let me explain why this is such a big deal, for me. I am an introvert at heart. I’m in the communities, I like posts, but I don’t comment often. I commented one time on a One Piece theory post and some random person replied back, to then led to me replying back and a conversation ensued. It was a great discussion, both of us civil, talking from our own perspectives, but having to keep up with the conversation itself was draining. Twitter (X) limits the number of characters for a post, and I’m sure you can tell from my blog, I like to type/write/speak. Short and quick responses are not my thing, and being limited on how many words I am allowed to use is deflating.
The only way to keep myself sane, I’ve decided, is to not reply back to anyone if they reply to me. My plan is to leave a positive comment on posts I like, especially those that don’t get a lot of engagement, then just ghost. As Greg mentions in the podcast— that I’m sure those of you online also have noticed— it’s a lot more common to see comments complaining on how they dislike something, rather than someone leaving a positive comment on how they liked it. This is true for me, at least on how I rarely leave any comments, even on posts I really enjoy. We have trolling, so now I’m inventing cheering. Instead of going around being mean to people for the fun of it, I’m going to be nice to people, cheering them on.
I just want to go around spreading positive vibes. Hopefully, this is something I will keep up with; a bit that doesn’t stop.
