Card Sicko; Whatever Words #7

Surprisingly, the one old game I've found myself drawn back to is Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories. I could never beat it as a kid, only getting past the present time tournament arc. Now as an adult, I've gone back beat this grueling game. I thought after finally beating it I would no longer yern for the grind, yet here I am playing it again...but differently this go around. Mod 15.

What is fascinating to me is the mod community behind this game. Known for being one of the most challenging Yu-Gi-Oh games to date, they're modders who not only approve the game with more drops per win (making it less of a grind-fest) and those who aim for "lore accurate" decks that destroy you duel one. Luckily, I watched a video from Daiya Beatus who actually tried all the mods so I don't have to. I was already playing Mod 15, but now have a few other mods in mind. Since I'm playing the new Dragon Ball game, I've already decided that the next mod I'll try will be a DBZ themed one. This way when I'm taking a break from the DBZ alternative timelines, I can keep the fun with the characters in my little card game.

Currently, I'm right before the final six, the last act of the game. For those unaware, to beat the game you have to go up against six duels in a row, with no saves in-between. If you lose, you restart from the first duel again. I am unsure if my deck is ready, I kind of want to wait until I get some more cards, don't have a base Meteor B Dragon, can only fuse for it. Good amount of equips, no Megamorph though. Tons of high attack dragons, so only need one thunder to get Twin-Head Thunder Dragon out. A Widespread Ruin, so maybe I should get another. I'm going to give them a try tonight and go from there to see what I need. I got a Dark Magician on my last run— yeah, the base game version— and I was so happy with that. This time I kind of want to get Blue Eyes White Dragon. Or even Gate Guardian. I've grinded for both to no avail.

Maybe it's just the card-sicko in me. I was talking to a friend about getting a real, tournament ready One Piece deck and I'm contemplating. Already own a good chunk of a deck I made online, only takes one big purchase to get the final cards I need. Part of me wants to wait till OP09 drops later in English, but the Robin purple-yellow deck will be pricey. Yellow cards are so busted (I was an Enel main, so I know how busted they can be) so they're expensive to just get one copy of a card. You can have up to four copies of the same card in a deck, so if the card costs $20, that's potentially $80 needed right there. I ain't about that life.
