Review Score
Going forward I have decided to add review scores to my review posts; the score itself will be placed at the bottom.
Why the change? Well, I am going to post my first video game review and now that I am more comfortable with writing out reviews, I decided adding a score would be beneficial. The review score will range from 1 to 10, with half points (0.5) in between. I will not go below 1, because naming anything a zero will most likely not be played or watched to begin with. If this changes, I’ll make the exception.
Initially, I thought about maybe a 3 point scale; simply a Good, Average, and Bad scaling. The issue with this, most things would most likely fall in the Average category. Then I thought, okay maybe a 5 point scale. But the issue with this, anything below a 4, people reading may view the review as negative. In the end, I got with my partner and we agreed that a 10 point scale gives more range, especially if including half points.
I will say this now, anything below a 7—does not mean that it’s bad.
This needs to be emphasized because I do want to use the whole scale, but I am also not going out of my way to view or play bad movies and games. Maybe in the future if this becomes a much bigger thing, but as just a fun personal hobby, I will watch and play when I genuinely have interest in and want to talk about. Trust me, low scores will come in when things like Good Boy gets watched. I won’t go back and put a review score on it since it’s already posted, but I would probably give it a 4, maybe a 3.5. That third act really killed it for me.
Any score posted will be my genuine score for the game. Emphasizing—my personal score. Yes, this will be a biased score. Like how I mentioned with the example Good Boy score, I do not believe that a 3.5 fits for a general audience viewer. A 5 would be closer in my opinion, because the concept behind it is interesting and nothing too outrageous happened that takes you out of it. I would—and did say, give it a watch if the synopsis sounded interesting to you.
If you don’t agree with my score, that’s okay. I’m just here to talk about how I perceived it.
