Noki Journey - Part Two

Moving back in with my parents was a new experience since I had a plus one with me. Growing up, no pets. This was the first time my family, as the four of us, had a pet. My parents dealt with animals when they were younger, but never had plans to get any for our family. Luckily, they were okay with me bringing my child along. For the first time, we were a family of five.

During this time of my life, I was looking for a new job. When I wasn’t applying for jobs, getting ignored or rejected, I was getting Noki accustomed to his new temporary home. From my knowledge, this was his first experience in a two story home. We did live in an apartment that was stationed above a garage, so he’s dealt with stairs, but not two whole floors to explore. I took photos of him in a blue jacket that was originally part of my siblings stuffed panda; looked quite handsome on him. I tried having him wear a bowtie collar, but that ended up with him getting his tooth stuck in it—freaking him out. Got a funny birthday hat to celebrate his birthday and a bundt cake—that I ate. Pretty much spoiling him as much as I could. And I was not the only one.

My mom got close to him during our stay. Whenever she could, she would feed him some kind of treat. She fed him a meat stick, if not torn apart, he would swallow hole. He ate salmon. Not a salmon flavored treat, but actual salmon cut up for him. He is a needy boy and my mom was all for it. There’s a saying that sometimes pets resemble their owners, and I believe Noki resembles me as a child. I was a big cry baby, he cries for attention constantly. I was close with my mom, he wanted to lay on me twenty-four-seven. I enjoyed showing off and getting attention, he wants all the attention—even from strangers. Asian mothers, especially Korean ones, adore their sons. Noki was a mini-me my mom could enjoy.

I believe this time cemented how he wanted to live life, a solo pet getting all the love and attention. The issue was, there was another, mini being, coming into the picture. During my stay with my parents, the family with Noki, and it was about to grow again. Noki was about to experience being the older sibling.
