Small Victories; Diary post
Time for the diary post.
There have been moments where I wanted to write, but nothing driving me to write. Small victories took placed that I wanted to share here, but I'm still accepting the idea of small little posts. Instead, I posted on Twitter (X). Now I'm here, feeling like I can share all these small moments into one big post. Let's breakdown, what went down.
Man vs Wasp
Tis the season of Spring, flowers and bugs, it doth bring.
A wasp came along, trying to nester itself on our balcony door frame. We said we would get rid of it, but time had passed and passed and passed... Until one day, when thy partner was away, a scheme had been hatched. It was time to rid ourselves of this wasp. Small spray bottle, little bit of dish soap, and water till filled. My weapon of choice against this foe. Sink gloves, elbow high, my armor. I take a step out and spray. Then step back inside, watching this bug suffocate. Because, fun fact, that's how this concoction kills them. Something I learned myself when looking up how to get rid of a small wasp nest.
As thy enemy laid before me, slain. I grabbed them and their home, and chucked them off my balcony. Back into the wild.
Sudoku High Score
So maybe I am an Asian (half) who likes playing with numbers. Kill me. Okay don't, but, I get it.
As I've mentioned previously, I'm into Sudoku right now. I do the daily, easy one, on NYT Games app. So my goal before was to hit under 4 minutes, which some time after, I did. I got 3:50, it felt so great and amazing, I didn't know what my next goal would be. I was jazzed up. Next couple days were rough, but in less than a week, I got sub 3. My new, and current, high score, 2:57. The day after, 3:02. I haven't made sub 3 since that day. On the plus side, my average play time has gotten better. Most days, I get sub 4.
Accomplished my goal, and improving every day. Just like a true Asian (half) should.
Apple Gang
I've accidentally joined a gang. Well, probably more properly labed as, a group. Part of the group of people who buy apples at Albertsons. Specifically, the Honeycrisp kind.
Honestly, it was really just two moments. Two different interactions, on different days, that happened at the same, very specific location. Also both positive.
First, was a lady who told me that they were cheaper that day through the app. I thanked her and then proceeded to use the app that day, and got cheaper apples. Barely used since, but I still took her advice, in the moment.
Second, this guy makes a funny comment on how all the good apples were at the bottom today. I laughed and nodded in agreement. That was it.
But you honestly tell me, how often do people, who are not working there, make conversation with you at the grocery store. And only at the one specific location in the store. No one is talking to me by the bread, chips, or dairy. Only if they're trying to get past me for an item, which doesn't count, they had to talk to me.
So yeah, I've been initiated into a Honeycrisp apple gang.
